CAL FIRE2+ weeks agoAgencyOn March 31, 2024, and April 8, 2024, the California State University, San Jose (SJSU) Police and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) - Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Arson and Bomb Unit responded to fires in the Martin Luther King Jr. Library on the SJSU campus. The investigation revealed the fire causes were arson, on State of California property, and occupied by students at the time of the arson fires. The joint law enforcement investigation was a collaboration between SJSU Police and the CAL FIRE – OSFM Arson and Bomb Unit. All personnel involved worked tirelessly to canvass the area, review security camera footage, cultivate leads, and ultimately identify the suspect. The suspect was identified as SJSU sophom*ore student Amogh Upadhya. Amogh Upadhya was arrested and charged with four (4) counts of Arson and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail. Upadhya is being held on $400,000.00 bail until a court hearing on April 12, 2024. N. B.Citrus Walk·2+ weeks agoSome additional information- he’ was sitting on the curb with his bike in the cross walk since at least 4 am. He was pacing in the crosswalk where cars often blow thru at high rates of speed- putting him in danger. There are people who leave home early - he approached my son when he pulled up but backed off when he saw how big my son is. I am not saying he is dangerous but why wait to find out,especially with early morning walkers, runners, men and women and teens who park on the street and leave early. I have utmost compassion for those who suffer/are unhoused etc having worked in a residential treatment center. I don't and won't apoligize for wanting the neighborhood to stay safe for everyone and for not wanting addicts hanging out in our residential neighborhood. For those making assumptions about my motives send me your address and I will hand it out and want to thank you and say it's nice of you to volunteer your area. Citrus Walk Alert. We’ve had a tweaker hanging out with his electric bike on the corner of Amethyst and Medford. If you are out on a morning walk be aware of your surroundings. The police have been called out. The police report he doesn’t have a criminal record and they aren’t sure why he’s hanging out here. He has a black electric bike and was dressed in all black. Citrus Walk Alert. VENTURA POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyIncident: Fatal Traffic Collision with Arrest Location: 3200 Block of Harbor Blvd Date/Time: 1/3/24, 10:06 p.m. Suspect: Aaron Greene, 32y/o, San Pedro Resident We received a 911 call regarding a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision in the 3200 block of Harbor Blvd. A witness that observed the collision reported that the vehicle involved immediately fled the scene, making no attempt to check on the pedestrian they had struck. Officers responded and located the victim down in the roadway and determined that he was deceased as a result of the collision. Officers checked the surrounding area but were unable to located the suspect vehicle at the time. Our Traffic Division investigators responded and began to process the crime scene. During an extensive investigation over the next few weeks, investigators identified Aaron Greene as the driver of the vehicle that evening. On January 31, Aaron Greene was taken into custody for Felony Hit and Run and Vehicular Manslaughter. He was booked at the Ventura County Jail. If this option is not available to you, always park in well-lit areas like in your driveway or directly under a streetlight.
